Sugar Plum Weekend | North East Local Shopping

The other day the Blue Heron Inn posted something on Twitter that resonated with me — “Encourage creativity. Support locally-owned, independent businesses.” I couldn’t agree more and I think it bears repeating here on the blog. Times are tough, why not help a neighbor out?

What better opportunity to do just that this weekend — the North East community is having its annual Sugar Plum weekend where all the local businesses will be open from 10-6 each day complete with horse drawn carriage rides around the park! I’ve personally made a pledge to get all of this year’s Christmas gifts from businesses here in North East, I have had to make a few exceptions regarding photography related gifts, but for the most part North East has *everything* to offer. Including gift certificates for people that are hard to buy for!

While you are out getting your shop on, stop by the studio today or tomorrow and check out all of the locally made gifts that we have in the gallery — we have invited some local artists to showcase their festive creations in our gallery. We’ve got a great variety of gifts to choose from. Handcrafted soy candles, holiday ornament wreaths (as shown below), and hand crocheted baby blankets. Our calendars also make a great gift for friends and family, especially for those who have moved away and want a piece of home to have throughout the year!

An Inspiring Image!

Last week I entered a couple of images into a contest on a photographer and designer inspiration website for a new product they were designing and one of our images was picked out of the thousand plus entries they received! It was exciting to see one of our signature poses picked for an inspiration guide that other photographers would buy and possibly implement into their own posing repertoire! They chose an image from Ryan and Amanda’s wedding and this is the card that they created from our pose:
