I was honored to be asked to photograph the winners of their 2010 Beautiful Baby Contest! Looking forward to this coming year’s adventure already! Watch the paper to find out how your child could be featured in the 2012 calendar!

A Family Affair | Erie Children Photographers

Hey, all!  Wendy here.  Today, I had the opportunity to shoot  mini- sessions for two families.  It was complete chaos but it also incredibly fun. My good friend Heather and her daughter Sarah came to North East all the way from Pittsburgh for a session! Talk about showin’ the love.  Sarah was totally pumped up; that girl has energy to spare. She has the blondest blond hair I’ve ever seen on a child. She was a super cutie! At one point, Heather was holding Sarah and Sarah cried out, “I’m stuck! Wendy get me down!” Little stinker, haha!

Sarah claimed the little chair as her own. She dragged it around with her and proclaimed, “My chair!” hehe…

I love Sarah’s bright, colorful outfit. It’s a common misconception in family photography that everyone should be in solid colors and that everyone should match. My personal feelings are, to heck what that! Bold colors, patterns, coordinating color families, it’s all good!

Heather’s brother Don and his lovely wife Amy brought their two children in as well.  Zac is five years old and a super helper.  He had ideas for poses and he held his two-month old sister Katelynn like a pro.

This here, is one of his “Spiderman” poses. Zac was a heck of a web-slinger, let me tell you.

Baby Katelynn was so.stinking.adorable! At just two months old, she was wide-eyed, looking at the lights and into the camera. Those eyes! That sweet skin! That innocent little smile!

Heather: Thank you so much for coming in. Sarah is one of a kind; spirited, spunky and sweet. (You appreciate alliteration, right? hehe) It means so much to me that you came in on your short trip up. Thank you x a billion.

Don and Amy: What a joy your children are. Zac is such a good big brother; so proud and careful. Katelynn is going to be a stunner. Thank you for driving out to North East; I hope you had a good time!

Future Supermodel: Brianna | Erie + Jamestown Child Photographer

Brianna and I have a funny connection. I had a portrait session with her and her two brothers many years ago when I had my portrait studio in Corry, PA. They were some of the very first Heather Neckers Photography clients! On top of that, her family purchased the house next to ours here in North East several years later. It took me a few minutes to figure out why they looked so familiar [ kids grow fast, ya know?! ] and I was excited that it was her family that bought the house. Brianna and her brothers are some of the nicest and respectful kids I know.

Anyways, I was excited for the opportunity to photograph Brianna again. She’s such a beautiful girl and let me tell you — she is not too shy to pull of a fierce pose or two! I wouldn’t be surprised to see modeling in her future, really. I had a lot of fun on this shoot. Hope you enjoy the images!

Mayville Playground Portraits | Chautauqua Family Photographer

April 26, 2010 by Heather · 6 Comments

On Saturday I photographed the children of the blogiversary comment contest winner. We met at the playground in Mayville NY for their portrait session. It was almost high noon so the lighting was a bit difficult but we captured some adorable images regardless!

I had fun at the shoot and I couldn’t stop giggling as I went through the photos this morning and found myself smiling at the portraits of these cuties as I was editing them. Hopefully you will enjoy these images as much as I do! Val, it was so great to meet you and your children! Thanks for commenting on our blog. And to everyone else — keep the comments coming, you never know what you might win!!

Another California Family Session

March 5, 2010 by Heather · Leave a Comment

This is the second family I photographed while out in California. The parents are so genuine and sweet and their kids share this same attitude and kind hearts. The boys are both very artistically talented and are now exploring their musical talents; it was fun photographing them as they played their instruments :) It was so great that after their session was up the kids were surprised an hour had already passed since they had been having so much fun!

I’ll end this post on a triptych of the boys and their swordfight. It was totally cute that they posed for each shot and after the shutter clicked they moved to a new pose and then another. They posed all the way to their faces – it was adorable!

I wish we would have gotten to spend more time with your family, Solange, but it was wonderful seeing you all!

Celebrating Family with Fun Portraits

March 3, 2010 by Heather · 1 Comment

Getting the chance to leave the snow behind and photographing in lush California was a dream come true. I have traveled a lot of places but I’d never visited California before. I didn’t believe it would be so green and in bloom in February, it was a wonderful surprise and made for my warmest birthday ever at a comfortable 70 degrees before heading up into the mountains later that evening.

As I was preparing these images for the blog they made me smile so much! This family is so fun and spunky and they just unabashedly embrace life with a passion. The children were aware of the camera but it didn’t make them retreat or act nervous, they just had fun being kids and expressing themselves! It really was a treat to watch them. I’m going to kick this post off with a couple of triptychs of both of the kids; they were having a good time showing me their dancing skills!

First Portrait Session in the New Studio!

February 27, 2009 by Heather · 4 Comments

Last weekend my sister-in-law brought her two adorable kids in for some fun in the new portrait studio.  We got to experiment with some new backgrounds and my niece seemed to enjoy having her portrait made for the most part – twirling and dancing and chatting. She’s growing up so fast! My nephew surprised me by really wanting to be in the photographs. I think he had a lot of fun posing with his sister – he’s a great big brother. :)

Sunset Family Portraits

Last night I stopped up to meet my brother’s family’s new puppy Chloe. The light from sunset was so gorgeous and the dog was so cute that I just had to bust out my camera for an impromptu lifestyle portrait session. I wish my brother would have been there, but at least I got these:

Is that not the cutest portrait? This little girl wanted to do something special during her sitting to give her dad for Father’s Day. I totally love it! She is so adorable and was a lot of fun to photograph. Here are three more images from her session —
