Amy + J.R.'s wintry Engagement Session
February 4, 2010 by Heather · Leave a Comment
When we got together with Amy and J.R. for their engagement session we did a somewhat unique take on the usual shoot. It was so cold that day that we did a few mini-shoots here and there so that their noses didn’t turn red and our fingers could still operate the cameras
I was all bundled up, wearing my ski pants! It was fun and a bit of a challenge to work as fast as we could. They did a great job and were so easy to photograph. Murl and I are so stoked for the wedding — I know its going to be fun, full of style and at least 40 degrees warmer with lots of time to play!

Amy & J.R. — thanks for coming out and playing in the snow with us

Craig + Mandi | Winter Engagement Session | North East PA
A couple weekends ago Craig, Mandi, Murl and I braved the below freezing temperatures to go outside and do some engagement portraits. Before heading out to the numb lips, frozen cheeks and red noses tundra that we get along the shore of Lake Erie, we met up at the local bookstore The Last Wordsmith to get some portraits in one of their favorite places in the area. After a quick session there we ran over to The Boston Bean to put their wonderful brick wall and nice window light to good use. It was a fun shoot and I love the challenge of shooting in conditions many people don’t want to be out in.

This shoot was extra special for us because Mandi and Craig are two of our closest friends and we couldn’t be more thrilled that they are getting married! We are so looking forward to your wedding and helping out with what’s left of the planning process
Love you guys! Heather & Murl
Autumn Engagement Portraits: Josh + Amanda | Erie Engagement + Wedding Photographers
Earlier this week we met up with Amanda and Josh on a perfect fall day for their engagement session. The colors were so amazing I found it difficult changing some of the images to black and white! Amanda and Josh have our highly coveted Labor Day weekend wedding. I have never had so many requests for one single date in my career so far. I’m so glad they booked us early — they are a great couple and I know we are going to have so much fun at their wedding!

A+J – Thanks so much for being open to anything we suggested, you guys were awesome and we are excited to photograph your wedding next year! <3 H+M

Autumn Engagement Portraits: Amy + Mike | Erie Engagement + Wedding Photographer
October 5, 2009 by Heather · Leave a Comment
On Friday Murl and I squeezed in some engagement portrait fun with Mike and Amy. We were so fortunate that the rain stopped falling minutes before they arrived for their shoot. We headed out to Quincy Cellars in Ripley in hopes of shooting in their gorgeous remodeled barn. [We are still waiting to shoot a wedding there, I hope it happens soon!] Unfortunately they were closed BUT they have a massive weeping willow tree out front by their pond so we put that to use! Lucky for us Amy has been keeping up on her America’s Next Top Model and we didn’t need to worry about posing her
Seriously, how cute are these two?!
We ended the night at a beautiful lookout on Lake Erie where Mike had proposed to Amy in the spring. The vineyards are just so gorgeous in the fall! And with the moody skies, it turned out to be a gorgeous night for their session after all! As always check the facebook page for more images from their session, they will be up shortly!
We are so looking forward to your wedding next year — It’ll be here soon! <3 Heather + Murl
Katie + Matt go to Presque Isle | An Engagement Session – Erie PA
September 11, 2009 by Heather · 40 Comments
Murl and I photographed on Presque Isle Wednesday night for the first time and it was gorgeous — off topic: I’m all sorts of pumped for the Labor Day 2010 wedding on the beach now! Katie and Matt spend a lot of time at Presque Isle so it was important to them that their e-session take place there and we are always up for anything so off to the beach we went.
I can’t say it enough, but we have *the* coolest couples. I guess our whole ‘are we compatible?’ meetings are proving to be successful because they are all truly wonderful. I think we got along so well with Katie and Matt because they are a bit silly like us
They were like old pro’s as we moved from spot to spot and explained what we wanted them to do. We got there a bit before sunset and got a lot of great images, I’m going to share just a few with you here, and as usual, more on the Facebook fanpage!
:: i loooooove this shot! hands down my favorite ::

:: sunset kisses on lake erie ::

K+M we are really looking forward to photographing your wedding next June, it’s going to be so much fun! And thanks for the super tasty chocolate chip cookies…spoiling your photographers should really become a hot new trend!
Spread the word! <3 H+M
Jen + Scott's Engagement Portraits | Corry PA Wedding Photographer

I had a super busy Labor Day weekend – two engagement sessions and two weddings. I don’t usually take on more than one wedding per weekend but this was a special case.
I’m going to kick off the blog posts with Jen and Scott. I am photographing their wedding next month! They were so adorable during their shoot. The connection between them is so sweet, I love couples who don’t have to be told to cuddle or kiss – it makes my job easier
Here are a few of my favorites from their session. These and more will be on the Facebook page shortly!

J+S — can’t wait for your wedding next month, its going to be so much fun! <3 H
Cindy + Kevin's Engagement Session in Westfield NY
August 14, 2009 by Heather · 2 Comments
Yesterday Murl and I drove over to Westfield to meet with Cindy and Kevin for their engagement portraits. We had so much fun there – we parked the car and never had to drive anywhere else, there were so many cool places in walking distance of the car! It was also fun because of Kevin and Cindy’s personalities. They did an awesome job and we got way too many great shots! Here are a handful from last night.

I love them all but that last one takes the cake for me! Speaking of cake…we went to Sapore after the shoot for dinner, and for dessert we had a Chocolate Ganache Cheesecake with raspberries, black raspberries and blueberries. Holy smokes, it was unbelievable – and I don’t even like cheesecake!
Cindy and Kevin — thanks so much for a great shoot last night! We are looking forward to your wedding even more now
Hope you love your portraits!
Engagement Session in the Water
July 7, 2009 by Heather · 8 Comments
Last week fellow photographer and good friend of mine Heather Mencer and I had lunch at this amazing place in the middle of the woods, I instantly knew I had to shoot there and I called up a couple who I am photographing their wedding next year to come play in the waterfalls with me! They were game, so earlier this afternoon we hit the falls for the second part of their engagement session. It was a lot of fun and the water felt great! Of course I wasn’t the one sitting in it though! If you are interested in a session like this send me a message or give me a call for details! Anyone who comments on this blog post will receive $35 print credit towards one of these photo shoots!

And I didn’t forget — detail pictures from the Gibbs wedding is coming up next [ I promise! ]

Cherry Blossom Portraits
May 15, 2009 by Heather · 2 Comments
Last week I was driving into Erie when I saw some amazing trees that had blossomed. I knew I had to shoot with these trees as a backdrop and I also knew that the rain and wind that was on its way was going to shake all the petals to the ground so there wasn’t much time. I rallied up a couple of my close photographer friends [ Amanda Kifer of Expy and Rachel Lusky of Puremotif ] and models were soon found via facebook and twitter. We had a great time and I came away with some super pretty images
First up — a couple of portraits of Amanda:

Here are a couple of Rachel:

Here is one of my super cute niece that we tried really hard to surprise her mom for mother’s day with:

Here are some portraits of the different models that met up with us to play that day. Kat came and brought her children with her and Freeland and Brooke are newlyweds who should probably be professional models since they are so awesome in front of the camera! Thanks to you all for coming out and playing on such short notice!

And I’ll end with a shot of the photographers at work! It was such a unique and fun opportunity shooting with other professional photographers, I’m lucky to have such awesome friends <3
