MARRIED {Jessica + Lealon} | Southpointe Golf Club Wedding
May 18, 2011 by Heather · 2 Comments
Over the weekend we photographed our first Pittsburgh wedding at Southpointe Golf Club. It was a gorgeous club in a beautiful location and Jessi and Lee are such a fun couple. Add to all that a ton of sunshine and we had the perfect day! It was pretty incredible how the rain stopped just in time for the outdoor ceremony and resumed right around dinner. It couldn’t have gone any better if planned. We met Jessi and Lee at Brett and Anna’s wedding last summer, its always nice to see familiar faces at a wedding
A few notes about this wedding before I get on with the photos: I absolutely LOVED the men’s grey tuxedos — they just looked so fashionable and handsome! And Jessi’s dress? Totally gorgeous! I loved that it was ivory and that the look of the dress carried over to the wedding cake. I also love that they did a first look — it gave us SO much time to get a ton of great portraits. Their day was seriously a photographer’s dream!
J&L: thank you so much for having us be there to document your day. We had such a wonderful time and you two are a perfect couple, surrounded by tons of great people. We hope you have a fantastic honeymoon in Mexico and we can’t wait to show you the rest of the images!! <3 H&M
Family Portraits | Chautauqua Family Photography

I recently had the fun task of capturing an adorable young family’s portraits. It was an extra special session because Amanda was a roommate of mine in college, and prior to that we battled it out on the volleyball and basketball courts throughout high school
I met her husband Chris in college as well so it was wonderful getting to hang out with these guys after not seeing them for a while!
Their little man Ayden is so cute and wasn’t the least bit camera shy { way to train him, dad! } It was so great seeing Chris and Amanda’s new home and just seeing how well they are doing, I’m so happy for them! <3
Fill in the Blank Friday

1. Fridays are usually my day off. I prep for weddings and accomplish things that I don’t have time to do the rest of the week.
2. Newborn portrait sessions make me terribly happy. They are my absolute favorite subjects!
3. Something that inspires me are books that encourage me to think big and accomplish my goals.
4. If I had the day off today I would go shopping. I need some new clothes.
5. If I had to put a label on my home decor style, I would say my style is evolving. Now that I spend more time at home I’m thinking more about decor, furniture, paint, etc.
6. Concerning politics I would say my views are kind of up the middle. I think both sides make valid points but both definitely have their issues as well.
7. I’d like to go somewhere warm so I could escape this crappy weather, its seriously bumming me out. I’m ready to sit out on my patio in the sun. Ugh, talking about the weather is so passe at this point but really???
Okay check back soon for a new family session post that’s been waiting for me to hit submit on for a couple of weeks…
Fill in the Blank Friday
6. If I could have 3 wishes I would wish for no more cancer in the world, to be able to teleport when traveling and for time to slow down a bit {its the middle of April *already*??}.
Annual Peek’n Peak Bridal Show
April 11, 2011 by Heather · Leave a Comment
Yesterday was the annual Peek’n Peak bridal show which we are always proud to participate at this event, especially since its somewhat exclusive where vendors show by invitation only. It was a gorgeous day out and we chatted with lots of brides-to-be and their family and friends. I wanted to share some beautiful flower arrangements and tablescapes to hopefully give you some ideas for your wedding! We had two florists in the Lodge with us who are responsible for these beautiful designs. You can find them on the web at Miss Millie’s Proper Petals and Acorn Acres.
I was really drawn to this particular centerpiece — I love how nature inspired it is. I love the bright yellow flowers with the curly willow adding some fun to the mix but I especially love the zen feeling the moss, black stones and wood candle holders conjures up.
I want to end on this image of a bridesmaid bouquet. This was arranged by Phyllis at Acorn Acres. I mentioned to her that I LOVE brooches and she had a fabulous idea — the brooch is a gift for the bridesmaid. The bride can go antiquing and find some really great brooches and place one in each bridesmaids bouquet that she will get to keep as a favor for being her bridesmaid. I adore this idea
I hope this post has helped give you some floral ideas for your wedding or table setup at the reception! Have a great week everyone <3

So its already Saturday, and I’m not able to do Fill in the Blank Friday this week — I’m in Detroit this weekend getting inspired by a fabulous wedding photographer from Australia, Jerry Ghionis! It was a great seminar tonight and I’m excited for my next photo shoot to put some ideas to the test! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I’ll be back early next week with a new blog post so stay tuned!

MARRIED {Andrea + Ben} | St. George & Bel-Aire Wedding Photographer
Saturday was a perfect day to get married in Erie, the temperature was above freezing and there was zero precipitation — I’d say Andrea and Ben got pretty lucky for the beginning of April in Erie, PA! I was really excited that the ceremony was at St. George Church on Peach Street — I’ve driven by that church SO MANY times and wished I could shoot there and now I finally had my chance! It was absolutely gorgeous inside and with just a bit of flash the lighting was perfect.
The reception at the Bel-Aire was set up beautifully and I loved the classic black and white color palette that they used throughout their wedding with just a shock of pink here and there.
Oh and I *have* to mention the bride’s headband. Its definitely my favorite trend for 2011! If I was getting married again I would so be rocking a bridal headband! They really convey a lot of style — some are so elegant and romantic while others are playful and fun. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photographs!
